KBS Anchor Kim Sun-geun, Reason for Leaving After 10 Years: "Took Out a Loan to Invest... A Major Failure" [Morning Square]

Former KBS anchor Kim Sun-geun revealed that she ultimately resigned after facing financial difficulties due to an investment failure.

On the episode of KBS 1TV's "Morning Square" broadcast on the 19th, the couple Kim Sun-geun and Lee Yoon-mi appeared to share various stories about their married life and recent updates.

Kim Sun-geun, who visited KBS for the first time in four years since her resignation, shared her impressions, saying, "It has been a long time since I last came here, so I realized how wonderful this place is. It is my hometown, and I am grateful to be invited."

Kim Sun-geun's wife, Lee Yoon-mi, shared the news that she recently succeeded in finding a job. She stated, "When we got married, I originally said I wanted to take care of our children for 10 years, but as soon as exactly 10 years passed, a situation arose where I had to start working." She added, "I could see how much my husband was struggling, so I decided I needed to find work quickly. I prepared and got a job."

Kim Sun-geun said, "I resigned in my 10th year at the company, and it has been a little over four years since then. I am currently working as a freelancer, mainly taking care of the children." She continued, "We have two daughters, aged 12 and 9, and today they woke up and went to school on their own."

In particular, Kim Sun-geun candidly revealed the reason for her resignation from KBS. She said, "When we started our married life, we built it entirely on our own. While working hard at KBS, we sometimes took out loans when things got difficult."

She continued, "I made a large investment hoping to live better, but it failed. I faced financial difficulties and ended up quitting my job."

She added, "It was not that I quit without a plan. I had made plans in advance, but it was hard when things did not go according to plan," sharing the difficulties she experienced after resigning.

Hearing this, anchor Um Ji-in recalled, "There were many rumors among fellow anchors at the time."

Kim Sun-geun expressed her gratitude to her wife, who believed in and supported her despite the difficult situation. Ms. Lee Yoon-mi stated, "My wife knew that I am a person who must do whatever I set my mind to. Since I was going to do it anyway, she encouraged me by saying, 'You will do well this time too.'"
