After actor Ha Young became embroiled in controversy over his great-grandfather’s pro-Japanese history, he has been unable to watch the dramas he appeared in one after another.

On the 19th, SBS told StarNews that regarding "There Is a Chance" not being scheduled for the first half of next year, "It is true that the scheduling was adjusted."

A source said, "Given that the work was produced with numerous staff and cast members, we are carefully considering various options, but there is no confirmed schedule yet regarding specific broadcast timing."

"There Is a Chance" is a bright, comedic legal detective story about a ragtag law firm led by Kwon Baek, a former lawyer and current office manager, which turns hopeless battles into winnable ones in an unprecedented way. Ha Young and actor Lee Je-hoon star in the series.

The drama particularly carried a message about justice, and given that it is a Japanese remake and its first broadcast was expected to be scheduled around February 2027, coinciding with March 1st Independence Movement Day, the "Ha Young risk" was significant.

When the controversy over Ha Young’s family surfaced, SBS stated, "'There Is a Chance' has already undergone substantial filming, and it is difficult to disclose details regarding the filmed volume or specific progress rate. We are aware of the issue and are closely monitoring its developments."

"There Is a Chance" ultimately completed all filming by September 3, but failed to secure a schedule for the first half of 2027.

Previously, after the controversy over his ancestors’ collaboration with Japan erupted, Ha Young also decided to voluntarily withdraw from his upcoming project, Netflix's "Trauma Center" Season 2.

Meanwhile, on the August 7 episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show "The Problematic Kids in the Attic," Ha Young revealed that he comes from a family of doctors for four generations, stating, "My great-grandfather went to Japan to study Western medicine and was the first doctor to open a clinic in Han Yang," and explained that he treated even Ko Jong (황제). However, after the broadcast, controversy arose as Ha Young’s great-grandfather, known as An Sang-ho, past pro-Japanese activities were re-examined online.

In response, Ha Young’s agency initially stated that the suspicions of pro-Japanese collaboration surrounding An Sang-ho were "groundless," but reversed its position within a day. The agency said, "We have confirmed that records actually exist listing An Sang-ho’s name on the roster of councilors for the 1916 Daeseong Friendship Association," and added, "We sincerely apologize for causing confusion by hastily answering 'groundless' without sufficient verification."

Ha Young also posted a handwritten apology letter directly on Instagram, stating, "In my ignorance, I brought up stories about my great-grandfather as if they were family pride. The fact that I did not know cannot be a reason to ignore or take history lightly. I accept this fault seriously and sincerely apologize as a descendant."
