Amid a massive fire at a residential apartment complex in Hong Kong that left 36 people dead and 279 missing, attention is now focused on whether the ‘2025 MAMA’ can proceed as planned.

According to AP News and the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 26th (local time), a fire broke out at around 2:52 p.m. at Wang Fuk Court, a high-rise residential apartment complex in the Tai Po district of northern Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s Chief Executive John Lee stated early on the 27th, “The fire at the scene has been largely brought under control,” adding, “At least 36 people, including firefighters, have died due to the blaze.”

In particular, with many individuals still unaccounted for and residents unable to evacuate from the high floors, the death toll is expected to rise further.

Due to the fire, Hong Kong authorities raised the alert level to the highest, Level 5.
