An analysis of BTS member J-Hope’s solo world tour and its impact on HYBE’s revenue performance has become a hot topic, drawing enthusiastic reactions from global fans.
Analyst: “J-Hope’s tour accounted for 40% of HYBE’s concert revenue”
On August 6, HYBE announced its second-quarter earnings, posting the highest quarterly revenue in its history. A major driver was concert revenue, which surged 31% year-on-year to 188.7 billion KRW. HYBE explained that the massive success of BTS members Jin and J-Hope’s solo world tours, along with SEVENTEEN’s fan meeting in Japan, as well as world tours by TXT and LE SSERAFIM, attracted a total audience of 1.8 million, fueling this record performance.
On August 19, Hyun-Yong Kim, a researcher at Hyundai Motor Securities, mentioned in an interview with Yonhap News Economy TV that about 40% of HYBE’s Q2 concert revenue came from J-Hope’s “Hope on the Stage” tour.
J-Hope’s world tour, which ran from February to June, held 33 shows and sold around 500,000 tickets. The tour visited 16 cities, with stadium sell-outs in Los Angeles and Mexico City, and wrapped up with a grand finale at Goyang Stadium in June.
Notably, this impact stands out even more given that HYBE’s album sales fell 8.4% during the same period, while the concert sector posted major growth thanks largely to J-Hope’s performances.
“Hope on the Stage” was J-Hope’s first world tour, based on his solo albums “Jack in the Box” and “HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1.” It is being hailed as a new benchmark for what a K-pop solo artist can achieve on the global stage.
