Thanks to the overwhelming influence of BTS’s Jin and K-pop Demon Hunters (KDHM), global search volumes for K-ramen have surged.
A recent report from an economic TV channel revealed that search interest in keywords related to the food, beverage, and tobacco industries—such as Ottogi’s Jin Ramen, Nongshim’s Shin Ramyun, Dongwon F&B’s Dongwon Tuna, and KT&G’s Lil Plus—has increased significantly.
The report highlighted a sharp rise in searches for Jin Ramen in particular. This is attributed to BTS member Jin gifting Jin Ramen to fans at his solo concert tour in the U.S., with Ottogi setting up a booth at the venue. Additionally, a reel featuring Jin-related questions was uploaded to Ottogi Global’s official Instagram account, further boosting search volume.
Since Jin became the model for Jin Ramen in 2022, Ottogi has recorded its highest-ever ramen export figures. The food industry has noted that Korean ramen exports have experienced significant growth since the 2020 Academy Awards win for the film Parasite and the branding impact of BTS Jin’s endorsement.
