FIFTY FIFTY, the Reverse-Run Icon… From “Pookie” to “Gravity,” Re-entering the Charts
FIFTY FIFTY continues to write the legend of the "reverse-run" phenomenon.
Despite currently not being in active promotions, FIFTY FIFTY has proven their popularity by dominating music charts and even short-form content platforms, cementing their status as a rising sensation. Their song “Pookie,” released in April, recently began climbing the charts again and has re-entered various rankings. It’s now reaching the Top 40 on the Melon Daily Chart, solidifying its position as not just a reverse-run hit, but a steady seller.
The resurgence was fueled by the boy group version of the “Pookie” Challenge, which gained massive attention as comedians, celebrities, and boy group idols joined in. The viral challenge captivated global fans, taking over algorithms worldwide.
In addition, signs of a reverse-run have started to appear for “Gravity,” a B-side track from their mini album “Love Tune” released in September of last year. In July, “Gravity” entered YouTube Music’s Weekly Popular Songs chart for two consecutive weeks. Upon its release, it was beloved by listeners as a hidden gem, and recently gained renewed attention through FIFTY FIFTY’s live performances on YouTube content and radio broadcasts, which went viral on social media.
Through these moments, FIFTY FIFTY has reaffirmed the value of their music and raised anticipation for the diverse sounds they will showcase in the future, solidifying their reputation as a “trusted and reliable” group in K-pop.
Meanwhile, FIFTY FIFTY continues to stay connected with fans through self-produced content, appearances at various festivals, fan sign events, and both online and offline activities, with more engagements planned ahead.
