Virtual idol group PLAVE has confirmed their official Japanese debut on June 16th.
On May 1st, PLAVE released a teaser image for their Japanese debut single ‘Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)’ through their official social media channels, confirming its release date. ‘Kakurenbo’ means ‘Hide and Seek’ in English and ‘숨바꼭질’ (sumbakkokjil) in Korean. The released image captures the attention with a scene of PLAVE members reflected on a camcorder screen during a shoot, set against the backdrop of a quiet Japanese underpass. The retro and intriguing mysterious concept further heightened expectations.
Pre-orders for PLAVE’s first Japanese single will begin at 11 AM on May 8th at various record sites. The album will be officially released on July 9th and shipped sequentially. In addition, the official Japanese fan club will open today, May 2nd, signaling the start of full-fledged Japanese activities.
Composed of five members – Yejun, Noah, Bambi, Eunho, and Hamin – virtual boy group PLAVE has seen a rapid rise in popularity since their debut in March 2023, primarily in Korea and Asia, and is one of the most attention-grabbing K-Pop groups both domestically and internationally. Notably, their second mini-album ‘ASTERUM 134-1’ topped the HMV&BOOKS K-Pop sales charts in Japan, demonstrating their growing popularity and influence in the country. PLAVE’s third mini-album ‘Caligo Pt.1,’ released in February, recorded the highest streaming count within 24 hours of its release on Melon’s overall album chart, making them the only artist to simultaneously hold the record for the fastest entry into the ‘Billions Club’ and the highest streaming ‘Millions Album’ record within 24 hours.
