Trusted for both their music and performance, MONSTA X has once again proven their global influence with bold moves across the English-speaking market.
On December 16, British magazine DAZED included MONSTA X’s “Do What I Want” in its list of “The 30 Best K-Pop Tracks of 2025.” DAZED cited the group’s distinctive identity and high level of musical completeness in the rapidly evolving K-pop landscape as key reasons for the selection.
“Do What I Want” is a pre-release B-side track from the mini album “THE X,” officially released in September. Composed by member Joohoney, with lyrics co-written by Joohoney and I.M, the song delivers the confidence and raw energy of a 10-year-old group through a refined sonic texture, offering listeners an exhilarating sense of catharsis.
DAZED commented, “Even after military service, MONSTA X shows no intention of letting go of the ‘intense chaos’ that defined their early years. If anything, the new track further reinforces their signature sound.”
The magazine continued, “In the era of fifth-generation idols, the choice of a third-generation group to stay true to the music that suits them best is exactly what is needed right now,” drawing attention to MONSTA X’s artistic direction as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.
In particular, the outlet concluded with high praise, stating, “The music absolutely slaps,” applauding MONSTA X’s straightforward, uncompromising approach. This recognition reaffirms that, even a decade into their career, MONSTA X remains an irreplaceable presence, blending unwavering intensity with the depth and mastery earned through years of experience.
